Over Thanksgiving, my family took a trip to Spain. My youngest sister had been studying abroad there for a few months, so we took the opportunity to have a “local” tour guide. We all (especially me!) enjoyed the food, which was overall amazing. While in Valencia, on the Mediterranean coast, we had quite the meal of seafood paella at a restaurant right on the beach.
Believe it or not, this was one of the smaller sizes. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, surrounded by families coming from church and enjoying a multi course afternoon meal, topped off with a giant paella for the table. We ordered the seafood version, which was an obvious choice for a beach front meal. The typical Valencian paella has rabbit and chicken, whichI did try another day and enjoyed. But this day, and this paella was…the ultimate Spanish eating experience.
My sister and I rounded out the experience with some Sangria….which really is just Spanish Kool-Aid. Not too potent!
I have many more pictures from the trip, and I am still sorting through the best ones. Some of my favorites are from the farmers market, which I will get around to putting up someday! Spain really is an amazing country, and a place I would love to spend more time in. You may not think of Valencia, but it was my favorite place we visited…the orange juice is out of this world, but that is for another post!
